Balaruc-les-Bains english summary

At around 07:20 on 30 March 2010 in Balaruc-les-Bains (Hérault), an articulated lorry which was travelling on RD 600 towards the A9 motorway swerved to the left, hit and crashed into a car travelling in the opposite direction, left the road and ended up below the highway in the garrigue.
The collision caused 3 deaths ; the two occupants of the car and the driver of the articulated lorry.

The immediate cause of the accident was the loss of control of the articulated lorry which deviated from its path and hit the car, which was travelling normally in the opposite direction.
It has not been possible to precisely identify what caused the loss of control of the articulated lorry.

Investigations carried out on all aspects of the accident have not led BEA-TT to make any recommendations.
The value of professional drivers wearing seat belts should nevertheless be reiterated.
